Once a year the club organises a Club Open Day primarily for members’ family and friends to come and meet club members. It is also open to the public as an opportunity to try out kayaking and canoeing. It includes some basic instruction to the sport and also an opportunity to do a short trip in a canoe or kayak. It is held on the Liffey at Canoeing Ireland Training Centre on a scenic and tranquil section of the Liffey on the Strawberry Beds , close to Lucan . There is no cost and no obligation and is open adults of all ages and children provided they are accompanied on the water by a parent or guardian . Participants will be supplied with essential safety gear including a PFD (Buoyancy Aid), Helmet and windproof jacket.
